Make your money matter: how to invest in a clean & equitable future
Want to change the world?
Start with what you already have.
What is this event about?
We're talking about sustainable finance in all senses of the world — how do we use our money to build a world that will last? How can we combine financial education with fossil fuel divestment with racial equity? Sounds like a tall order, but it's actually not. If you want to know how to take meaningful action in your community but you're overwhelmed by the options, or you simply want to learn more about sustainable investing, this is the event for you.
Who are the speakers and what will they talk about?
We're bringing in experts from Carbon Collective, BankBlackUSA, and For What It's Worth.
The Carbon Collective team will tell us what divesting from fossil fuels means and why it works (spoiler alert: it makes it more expensive for fossil fuel companies to finance, well, fossil fuels). Stephone Coward from BankBlackUSA will talk about racial equity and financial exclusion, and the FWIW team will help us understand the role financial literacy plays, especially in conversations about sustainability.
There are a lot of events out there. Why this one? Why now?
April is a fun combo of Earth Month x Financial Literacy Month, and we bet your social (environmental) calendar is full. We want to give you a workshop that helps you take action now — that's why we call our events Action Hours! This means that you'll have the opportunity to not just learn something, but you'll also leave having made a difference. Plus, our events are way more fun. Come for the vibes and stay for the actions?!
