DLN AI Learning Hour: How a small charity took AI from one team to organisation-wide
Type of Learning Hour
Show & Tell
Session lead
Sohail Raja, Head of Digital and Data Strategy with Salik Rohman, Branding & Marketing Lead and Sadek Ali, Operations Lead - Streets of Growth
Hosted and supported by the Digital Leads Network, part of CAST.
Purpose of this session
A facilitated show & tell (e.g. short talk or demo) designed to inspire and spark ideas. The focus is on sharing personal or organisational learning, including what’s worked, what hasn’t and what’s still being explored.
Session overview
Claude Code is built as a coding tool. At Streets of Growth it has ended up doing far more than write software. Rather than three separate AI projects bolted onto different teams, it has become one shared way of working that spreads into branding, operations and impact measurement.
This session traces that thread across three very different parts of the charity: keeping branding consistent across documents and dashboards; running day-to-day operational tasks like intervention monitoring and reporting; and building a clearer picture of programme impact for young people. The tools and prompts differ by team, but underneath is the same approach: describing an outcome in plain English and letting the tool handle the execution. That is what made it possible to scale from one person’s experiment to something the charity relies on.
Whether you’re curious about agentic AI tools specifically, or simply wondering what AI could do for your organisation’s day-to-day work, this session is designed to be useful to both. Technical curiosity welcome; no technical background required.
We’ll share concrete examples: what’s worked, where it’s fallen short and where we’re still experimenting. In particular, we’ll share what it takes to move from isolated wins to a shared way of working that holds up across a small charity.
