About Event

We are pleased to invite you to Climate in the Crossfires: A Reckoning of Media and Storytelling, where we will bring leading journalists together to take an honest look at where climate reporting stands today and where it needs to go next.

The event will take place during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET at the SDG Media Zone, UN Headquarters in New York City.

With growing political pressure, shrinking resources, and a sense of fatigue across the movement, we will talk openly about what is getting harder, what is changing, and how media can continue to use its power to push the conversation ahead. We will explore how specific beat expertise and broad-audience storytelling can cross-pollinate to elevate climate coverage across every desk.

Hosted by climate leaders Saad Amer and Thania Peck, and award winning journalist Rachel Ramirez, in collaboration with Covering Climate Now and Justice Environment, the gathering is a chance to uplift the role of climate media and reclaim the power of stories.

Please fill out this RSVP by Tuesday, September 15th.
