Curtis Brown Creative: Masterclass with John Yorke
Curtis Brown Creative is hosting a special masterclass for 30 writers with John Yorke, author of the bestselling, hugely influential writing guide Into the Woods.
During this 75-minute masterclass, John will talk about his approach to storytelling, the ideas explored in Trip to the Moon and share insights into the writing process. Following the masterclass, there will be a Q&A with attendees asking questions as well as an opportunity to sign books at the end of the event.
Into the Woods was a groundbreaking publication that revolutionised writers’ understanding of story structure and continues to be a hugely influential text for screenwriters and novelists alike – including many CBC tutors and students. John’s five-act structure is a brilliant tool for understanding what underpins narrative. His latest book Trip to the Moon takes us on a journey not just through drama and fiction but through politics, religion and non-western narrative. Through these terrains, he seeks out the role of story in all our lives, examining how to utilise its lessons to create life-changing tales – and, in a world aflame with conspiracy theories, to guard ourselves against their darker purpose too.
Note: Attendance is managed by Curtis Brown Creative, event details are for information only.
