About Event

🌼 BAD BALL CLUB IS BACK FOR PRIDEEEE 🌱

Time to be gay, run around in the sun, and reclaim recess with another game of silly, unserious, qtbipoc KICKBALL! ⚽️💥

Bad Ball Club is the not-serious sports club for qtbipoc who want to run around, kick a ball, and play for fun! 💦 Rotating between kickball and soccer games.

We're here for the bad and silly players that want a low-key space to touch grass, cheer, and get our playground energy on. This is all about play, nothing about winning. 🤸🏽Juice boxes and snacks will be ready for ya at the end! 🧃

BRING WATER BRING A PICNIC BLANKET BRING YA CUTE ASS GAY SELF!!

Common questions!

  • Can I just show up and vibe without registering?
no babe 💌 every hunny that attends needs to register. If we're sold out, email us to ask about a cheerleader (non-player) ticket!

  • I've never played / im not good at sports...can i still play? 🥲
Babes, YES. THIS IS FOR YOU!! The point of Bad Ball Club is to play, forreal, justttt for fun. We're here to heal our gym class trauma, not play it out on the field. Come be bad with us :)

  • I don't wanna play, but can I come and vibe? ☁️
Yesssss. All kinds of players are welcome at Bad Ball Club, whether you're cheerleading, snacking on the picnic blankets, or gazing at the clouds. Registration is still required, just sign up as a cheerleader!

  • I'm lowkey competitive / good at sports...can I come? 👀
Yes hunny, bring your fire. Just remember the main sport here is being unserious and cheering on strangers

  • I can't afford a ticket, how can I come?
No one will be turned away from Bad Ball Club due to lack of funds. DM @softnessschool if you need a free ticket.

  • What do my ticket funds go to?
Your ticket helps cover the real costs of making Bad Ball Club happen: field reservations ($60 per game), equipment + snacks + supplies ($300), and the behind-the-scenes labor of organizing.

Bad Ball Club is part of School of Softness, where we practice creativity, play, and the tenderness needed to create freer worlds. To us, this isn’t just about playing kickball. To build the futures we dream of requires individual and communal trust and vulnerability. Play is a part of resourcing that energy! 🛝

Play is political, part of our practice is also giving back materially. Who gets to play, rest, gather, be silly, be outside, take up space, and feel safe enough to soften is not random. It’s shaped by structural forces, by housing, safety, healthcare, resources, policing, access and the systems that decide who gets protected and who gets pushed out.

If believe in play, we also have to support the work that helps make play possible. 15% of each game's proceeds are donated to an organization making communal care possible in Brooklyn.

This month, proceeds will go to GLITS: a Black trans-led direct services organization dedicated to fighting systemic discrimination against marginalized communities, in New York City and beyond.

  • Do you accept sponsors or donations?
Yessss, and thank you for the support 💗. You can either purchase a Sponsor ticket here on Luma, or donate directly through venmo or paypal! Your donation will go directly towards covering free tickets to those that need them, and covering the cost of the field, snacks, and equipment!

  • What's School of Softness?
Bad Ball Club is a gathering under School of Softness, a platform both online and in Brooklyn that hosts classes and gatherings for practicing creativity, play, and the tenderness needed to create freedom in our selves and with each other. Tended by myself (Annika 💌)
