Are Youths Hungry Enough?
We used to know what hunger looked like. Good grades. Top university. Prestigious job. The next rung on the ladder.
But something has shifted.
More young people today are choosing slow over fast, enough over more, and peace over prestige. Slow living, hobbies, and intentional growth are the new markers of a life well-lived.
So are we finally living on our own terms — or have we quietly stopped wanting things?
The latest Deloitte research paints a telling picture: more than half of Gen Zs have delayed major life decisions, and only a small percentage say reaching a leadership position is even a goal anymore. To some, that sounds like wisdom. To others, it sounds like giving up.
Yet 6 in 10 Singapore youths say they want a society that celebrates wider definitions of success — one that encourages risk-taking, pushing new frontiers, and learning from failure. The hunger might still be there. It might just look different now (NYC).
This July, in conjunction with Youth Day, The Club is getting together to dig into that question — honestly, openly, and without easy answers. We are happy to have SCAPE as our venue partner.
Are youths hungry enough? Come tell us what you think.
