VT ChE Reconnect: An Evening Reception
No resumes. Just the people.
Expo season brings everyone back to Blacksburg. Before the booths go up and the interviews start, the VT Chemical Engineering Young Alumni Board is hosting an evening where none of that matters.
This is a reception for reconnecting. Alumni catching up with classmates they haven't seen since graduation. Students talking with people who sat in the same lecture halls a few years ago. Faculty finding out what their former students are actually building now. There will be food, and there will be good conversation that doesn't open with "so, what are you looking for?"
If you're an alum, this is the low-effort version of coming back. No panel to prep for, no students pitching you. Just your class, your professors, and the building where you spent too many late nights.
If you're a student, this is the room where you get honest answers. What the first year out is really like, which classes turned out to matter, how people ended up where they are. The kind of thing nobody says at a career fair table.
If you're faculty, this is the payoff. Your former students, back in Goodwin, telling you what stuck with them.

Nuha Abousam ('17) — Principal on the investing team at Breakthrough Energy Ventures, a venture capital firm. Since Blacksburg: engineer at GE Power, an MBA at Harvard Business School, and co-founded a defense tech company.
Yasmin Farzan ('23) - Production Engineer at Venture Global LNG. Since Blacksburg: engineer at ExxonMobil. Former president of VT's AIChE chapter. Triple minored while at Tech - CS, Math, and chemistry.
