Journocoders: Telling stories with maps using Mapbox
This month we'll be learning how to tell stories with maps using Mapbox.
Maps are a great way to tell a story which has geography at its heart. Mapbox is a toolkit for building custom maps and working with location data on the web. It's used by a lot of newsrooms.
In this session we'll be following tutorials that cover building your own choropleth map, which colours areas based on your data. We'll look at how to visualise this kind of geographical information, and how to incorporate it into a webpage. If we have time we'll also cover using Mapbox to visualise geographical changes over time.
All of our events are suitable for beginners, and no programming experience is required. Bring a laptop along as this a practical, hands-on workshop. Please also sign up for a Dropbox account if you don't already have one so you can edit the shared doc we'll be using during the event. For this session you will also need to be signed up to Mapbox, and a text editor installed such as VS Code.
