EA NYC Beginner-Friendly Summer Hike #2!
(The following description is a draft subject to change: check this page again before the event, which will be either Sat Sep 12 or Sun Sep 13.)
Time for another relaxed stroll through the woods! We'll be walking the Pine Meadow Trail in Harriman State Park, stopping to eat a packed lunch by the stream. Key points follow, more details below.
Key points - read this!
The hike is currently scheduled for Sat Sep 12, but we could move it to Sun Sep 13 depending on weather.
Meet me (Jacob Eliosoff) at Penn Station at 8:45 am, in the NJ Transit area (31st St & 7th Ave). We'll take the 9:14 am train to Secaucus, and connect there to the Port Jervis line train to Sloatsburg, arriving at 10:24 am. (Buy your round trip ticket here, $30.) You must catch that 9:14 am train or you miss the hike!
I'll keep an eye on jacob.eliosoff@gmail.com/FB Messenger up to 9:30 am, but may be hard to reach during the hike.
Bring: water, a packed lunch (no restos on the trail)/snacks, comfy shoes + socks, ideally a hat. I recommend long (light) pants rather than shorts, to avoid scratches & ticks.
We'll finish by returning from Sloatsburg on the 4:25 pm train arriving back at Penn at 5:36 pm.

Ticks are always a risk in NY nature, as some of us learned a few hikes ago. They're harmless if removed within a day: I suggest giving yourself a close body inspection once you get home after the hike.
