AI Ventures Accelerator Demo Day

​AI companies are being founded faster than anyone can count them. Very few are being founded by women.

​This year Technovation and UNICEF Generation Unlimited ran the AI Ventures Accelerator. Over 1,000 young women from 60 countries spent twelve weeks learning to build with AI. More than 200 of them finished with a working product, a demo video and a pitch.

​Eleven of those ventures are coming to Gurugram.

​One screens children in India for a treatable eye condition using an ordinary smartphone camera, before it costs them their sight. One keeps food cold in Kenya's informal markets, solar powered and off grid, paid for by the use rather than by the year. One in Rwanda scores the small businesses that banks will not lend to. One teaches maths to six year olds in Nigeria by handing them someone else's wrong answer and asking them to find the mistake.

​Their founders are between 19 and 24. Twelve weeks ago many of them had not written a line of code or spoken to a customer. On 6 October they pitch at Google in Gurugram, take questions from a panel, and go back to building.
