About Event
Through a deeply personal story about growing up with a father who worked in a slaughterhouse, this talk examines the problem of animal suffering and why societies fail to confront it.
It also challenges a common assumption within the animal movement: that veganism is the primary solution to the problem.
Jack Hancock-Fairs is a documentary filmmaker and YouTuber focused on reducing animal suffering.
His work explores factory farming, wild animal suffering, speciesism, and effective altruism. His YouTube videos on animal ethics have amassed over 3 million views. His debut feature documentary, The Dying Trade, is scheduled for release in May 2026.
