About Event

This is an invitation to a 90-minute gathering where you show up with a plan + picture of that one, offending space in your home that is not working, and we identify the problematic environmental cues present; and you leave with a clear solution to making it go away—with coffee and tea, a light snack and a teeny little gift bag.

  • If you don't have a floorplan, no worries. Sketch as accurate birds eye view of your priority space as possible, noting window openings and all key points in the space + pictures.

  • We will explore a few ordinary spaces through a different lens: light, sound, visual complexity, movement, privacy, predictability and the way a space can inform behaviour..

  • You will start to notice things before I explain them.

  • Then we will look at what research can tell us about why those things matter.

  • And somewhere along the way, you will probably recognise something about your own home that you hadn't noticed before.

That's the fun bit.

During the morning, you will:

  • Map your home's friction points: Identify the rooms and situations that seem to demand more from you than they give back.

  • Look before you explain: Take part in a guided observation exercise designed to make the sensory qualities of a space visible.

  • Discover why the same room can affect two people differently: There isn't one universal version of a comfortable home.

  • See the pattern in the room: We'll build a live heat map from the group and look at what happens when different people respond to the same kinds of spaces.

  • Choose one change to take home: Not a shopping list. Not a renovation project. One specific shift worth testing in your own environment.

There is no such thing as an ideal-looking home. What works is a home that has an aligned relationship between it and the user.

Spaces can also feel fine to one person but demanding to another person. That does not mean something is wrong with either human. It just means the environment is not yet meeting the sensory needs of the person who finds that space demanding.

What the morning will be used for:

9:30 — Arrive & map your home.

Coffee, snack and your first exercise: identifying where home currently costs you the most energy.

9:50 — Look before you explain

A guided observation exercise using rooms and objects from everyday life.

10:10 — What is actually happening here?

A short, accessible look at the research behind what you've just noticed.

10:30 — The room in the room

We'll reveal the group's anonymous heat map and see where our experiences overlap — and where they don't.

10:45 — Your one experiment

Choose one change to test at home.

11:00 — Mingling, conversation & questions

Stay, talk, compare notes and continue the conversation.

11:15 — Close

A small room. A real home. A different way of looking.

We will not be talking about trends or fabric swatches.

We will be exploring the relationship between your home environment and how it is working, or not working for you.

You just need to bring yourself — and the offending room.
