Ta Collective presents: In Conversation With Prof. Sohaira Siddiqui
Join the Ta Collective for an evening in conversation with Dr Sohaira Siddiqui, Executive Director of the Al-Mujadilah Centre and Mosque for Women in Qatar, the world's first women-only mosque.
We will explore the development of Islamic law over time, with a particular focus on women's rights across different historical periods, including the Ottoman and post-colonial eras. The conversation will consider some of the challenges and questions that regularly arise for Muslim women today and examine how Islamic law has been interpreted and applied in changing social, political and cultural contexts.
Through an informed and thought-provoking discussion, we will reflect on the relationship between faith, legal tradition and contemporary debates around gender, authority and justice in Muslim communities.
Whether you are interested in Islamic thought, women's rights, history or contemporary Muslim life, this conversation will offer an opportunity to engage deeply with one of the most important discussions shaping Muslim communities today.
