About Event
Who controls the money and the markets in Africa? Is Africa's economy still being decided elsewhere? In the opening session of The Ledger and The Land, a Continental Audit series, we examine fiscal sovereignty and debt transparency, from complex financing and contingent liabilities to public-private partnerships and state-owned enterprises, and how these ripple into tax burdens, public services, and the cost of doing business. We also turn to AfCFTA delivery and trade facilitation integrity — border systems, revenue leakages, non-tariff barriers, and trade automation — asking whether cross-border traders and SMEs can move goods reliably and affordably.
