Hi, I'm Sarmad! And I'm hosting Islamabad's first Generalist Day 🌀
What's a generalist? Someone who's good at more than one thing and refuses to pick a lane. If your job title has slashes in it, or people always ask "wait, so what do you actually do?", you're one of us.
What to expect Grab a drink, settle in, and expect a short icebreaker to get things moving. From there it's open conversation, some structured, some not. No elevator pitches, no agenda, no "so tell me about your business." Just people and their winding paths.
If a conversation turns into a collaboration, a project, or just a good contact to keep around, that's a great outcome. This isn't a room for pitching your business at people.

Who can come Everyone's welcome to apply, but spots are added after a quick independent review, just to keep the group genuine and the room easy to trust.
Part of something bigger Islamabad isn't the only city doing this. This year, International Generalist Day is happening in around 130 cities across 47 countries, hosted by roughly 170 people just like me — Argentina, China, India, Ecuador, Malta and Taiwan — to name a few.
Every city's doing its own thing: picnics, hackathons, board game nights, karaoke, bike tours, coffee crawls, park walks, art afternoons, potluck dinners, museum nights, and more. Different formats, same idea everywhere: generalists finding their people.
About your host I’m a growth marketer by profession, but honestly, I’m just someone who gets mildly uncomfortable when there’s a problem nobody’s solving yet.
Before growth, I worked across journalism, PR, social media, and communications. Outside work, I write, dabble in screenplays, take photos, and stay curious about tech, design, cinema, and football.
So yeah, looking forward to see you all and being part of a global community across 40+ countries of curious people who like building things and figuring shit out.
