📍 1401 Great Hwy, SF, CA 94122 (Judah & Ocean Beach — look for the blue Surfrider flag on the dune to the left of the beach entrance)
Year Up United Bay Area Alumni — let's give back together!
This National Alumni Service Week, we're heading to Ocean Beach to volunteer with the Surfrider Foundation on a hands-on dune restoration project. We'll be planting native dune grass to restore critical coastal habitat, prevent beach erosion, and help protect San Francisco's shoreline against rising seas.
This is a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, get your hands dirty for a meaningful cause, and contribute to the health of our local ecosystem — all in one morning.
🌱 What We'll Be Doing Planting and maintaining native vegetation to stabilize dune habitat along Ocean Beach as part of Surfrider Foundation's ongoing restoration efforts.
💪 What to Expect Tasks include digging, squatting, and carrying supplies on uneven sandy terrain. It's active, rewarding work — come ready to move!
✅ What to Bring & Wear • Comfortable closed-toe shoes • Layers (it's Ocean Beach — it will be breezy!) • A reusable water bottle • Yourself and good energy!
Tools and gloves will be provided. All other supplies included.
⏰ Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in.
