About Event

Where is your school overpaying for energy?

For most schools, the answer is yes.

Around 80% of UK SMEs are overcharged* for their energy.

Overcharging is more common than many bursars realise, and it can go unnoticed for months or even years. Don't wait until your contract renewal to take control of your energy costs.

In bill reviews for schools and businesses, The Disruption House has found rate overcharges of up to 5.1% and pass-through charges rising by up to 9.6%, none of it caught by normal accounts payable checks.

Join us for a practical breakfast session about the biggest cost leaks on school energy bills. You'll leave knowing where these costs show up and how to recover them.

Hosted by The Disruption House in partnership with The Abbey School.

Who is this event for?
This breakfast brings together Heads and CEOs, Bursars and CFOs, and Governors from independent schools.

When and where?
Monday 9 November, 07:45 to 09:00
A 5* hotel in Central London, 15 minutes from the AGBIS HMC ISBA Heads, Governors and Bursars' Conference.

What to expect?

07:45 to 08:15 - Arrival, networking & breakfast
The morning opens with networking over a relaxed continental breakfast, with pastries, coffee, tea and soft drinks served on arrival.

08:15 to 08:45 - Fireside chat with Richard Brown, Chairman of Governors at The Abbey School

The Abbey School secured early savings on its upcoming renewal, three months ahead of its contract end date.

Hear from Richard Brown, Chairman of Governors at The Abbey School, and Rupert Bull, Co-Founder of The Disruption House, in a fireside chat on how they brought disruptmyenergybill to the school to uncover hidden fees and secure a better renewal price.

08:45 to 09:00 - How schools get overcharged and what a bill review uncovers + Q&A

In a 10-minute talk, Rupert will cover the most common ways schools and universities get overcharged, then walk through what a line-by-line bill review typically uncovers and how we secure up to 25% savings for our clients. The talk is followed by a Q&A, where you can ask questions specific to your school.

09:00 Closing
We'll wrap up at 9am. The ISBA conference is only a 20-minute taxi ride from the venue.

What will you walk away with?
Every attendee will receive a free health check on their last 12 months of energy bills.

Bursars will see exactly where costs are leaking and where hidden fees sit. Heads and Governors will get a clear savings estimate to take to the board.

What does it cost?
This breakfast event is private, invite-only and free to attend.
Places are limited. Once we reach capacity, we'll run a waiting list and let you know when your ticket is confirmed.

About The Disruption House
The Disruption House is a London-based data and intelligence company, founded in 2015. It turns hard-to-find financial and operational data into clear, usable intelligence for banks, insurers and businesses.

Its energy control platform, disruptmyenergybill, is built for schools, colleges and universities. It checks every line item on every bill, from unit rates to non-commodity charges, to catch overcharges, hidden fees and penalties before they recur. It also monitors the market continuously, so bursars can lock in savings ahead of renewal rather than at the deadline.

Working independently of brokers and without commission, it gives finance teams one view of energy costs across every site and cuts hours of admin. Member schools also gain access to student sustainability internships and work placements.
