​The only grandchild of the Inkling, philosopher, and author, Owen Barfield, Owen became sole trustee of his grandfather’s literary estate in 2007.

​He has dedicated himself to building his grandfather’s literary, intellectual, and spiritual legacy for current and future generations, and making his own contribution to the spiritual sciences.

​45 years ago, Owen Barfield gave a lecture in California, on his life-long theme of the evolution of consciousness.

​Today, his grandson reminds us of the clarion call by the First and Last Inkling towards the rediscovery of meaning – within our own lives, thinking, and humanity itself.

​In this, the centenary year of the publication of the first Inkling fantasy novel – Barfield’s The Silver Trumpet – we celebrate the ways in which C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were influenced by their fellow Inkling, friend, provocateur, collaborator, and walking companion.
