Chicago fireboat tour
Join the Scanner team after Blue Team Con wraps for the day on September 11 for a Chicago fireboat tour, cruising Lake Michigan and the Chicago River as the skyline rolls by. Skyscrapers you have seen in a hundred postcards, plus the stories behind them, narrated by expert docents who know this river inside and out.
The boat itself spent decades on Chicago's Fire Department fleet and still carries the photos, artifacts, and equipment from that life on board as a working piece of the city's firefighting history. Grab a spot on deck alongside the Scanner team and hear how a stretch of river that used to be stockyards and warehouses became the restaurants, towers, and riverwalk you see today.
Departure is from DuSable Harbor, and the tour runs for 2 hours. Please arrive by 5:15pm. The boat leaves right at 5:30pm and cannot wait, so build in extra time to get from the conference to the harbor.
