Chicago fireboat tour

​Join the Scanner team after Blue Team Con wraps for the day on September 11 for a Chicago fireboat tour, cruising Lake Michigan and the Chicago River as the skyline rolls by. Skyscrapers you have seen in a hundred postcards, plus the stories behind them, narrated by expert docents who know this river inside and out.

​The boat itself spent decades on Chicago's Fire Department fleet and still carries the photos, artifacts, and equipment from that life on board as a working piece of the city's firefighting history. Grab a spot on deck alongside the Scanner team and hear how a stretch of river that used to be stockyards and warehouses became the restaurants, towers, and riverwalk you see today.

​Departure is from DuSable Harbor, and the tour runs for 2 hours. Please arrive by 5:15pm. The boat leaves right at 5:30pm and cannot wait, so build in extra time to get from the conference to the harbor.
