Sparring Café: Crystallising your core competence
The next Sparring Café will build on the theme of our previous event (Sparring Café: The Expert Brand as Part of Entrepreneurship), diving deeper into how to identify and articulate the core of your expertise as a professional.
This time, the evening will be facilitated by the CORE design agency. CORE design agency connects companies with top design talents – at the right time, in the right context. As a freelance designer’s agency, they not only help designers find new opportunities but also handle the project sales and contracts, so that designers can concentrate on creating. On top of this, they are eager to support and give tips on how freelancer designers can highlight their design skills.
In this event, participants will get a chance to dig deeper into the topic through open peer-to-peer discussion as well as receive peer feedback on what stands out as their most inspiring expert super power. Be ready to give a 5min introduction to what you do! All participants will also have a chance to book a 1-on-1 CV and portfolio sparring session with a CORE design agency professional to a later date.
🗓️ Tue 27.10.2026
📍 Finitec / CORE office, Kaisaniemenkatu 1BA (NOTE: door on the left side, 4th floor)
⏱️ 18:00 - 20:00 (doors open at 17.30)
The event is particularly aimed at those considering entrepreneurship and freelancing in the field of design or who are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey, however, it is not a mandatory characteristic in order to participate.
The event will take place in person in Helsinki with limited online participation availability mainly dedicated to participants located outside the capital area.
Please note that this is an interactive event, and all participants are expected to take an active part. Let’s learn from and support one another!
The overall aim of the Sparring Café event series is to provide a relaxed setting in which to discuss entrepreneurship, particularly the thoughts and concerns that might arise when starting a business, with others in a similar situation. In this facilitated peer-support group, participants have the opportunity to share their ideas, challenges and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. All participants commit to upholding the principles of a safe space and confidentiality.
