CCL Long Beach Area Chapter Monthly Meeting at Algalita!! Saturday April 13th 2024, 8:30-9:45am
This month's chapter meeting will be held at Algalita, one of our favorite local environmental groups:
Algalita is internationally known as the organization that started the movement to end plastic pollution nearly 30 years ago. We were the first to discover, and bring attention to, the swirling soup of plastic pollution in the Pacific – now known by many as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Since then, we’ve worked to revolutionize the plastic pollution conversation by building a web of connections between researchers, activists, industry leaders, educators, and young people across the globe.
The address is 120 N. Marina Dr. Long Beach, CA 90803. (That's near Boathouse on the Bay and Ballast Point Brewing, for those of us who navigate by restaurant landmarks 😁).
The 131 bus line stops right out front.
And there's plenty of parking for carpools, bikes, and cars.
The seating capacity is only about 20 people, so we're using this event page. Is registration feature to manage in person attendees. If the in-person registration is full, it's still join the zoom room.
We'll be able to tour not only Algalita's facility, but the laboratory of their new sister non-profit, Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research. And we can also check out their BYO store (Bring Your Own container), which is a big part of their solution set discussion.
The Zoom access is our standard Zoom line:
