Foresight in Practice
The future rarely unfolds the way we expect. Funding models shift. Technologies emerge. Communities change.
Foresight in Practice is a four-session, hands-on introduction to strategic foresight — a practice for exploring what could happen beyond simply guessing, and making decisions that hold up across more than one possible future.
Over four in-person sessions, you'll work through a real strategic challenge facing your organization and learn practical tools for navigating uncertainty.
The Sessions
1: Wednesday, September 16 — Foresight 101
What foresight is — and isn't. Explore real-world examples, get introduced to the tools you'll use, and choose the strategic challenge you'll explore.2: Wednesday, October 7 — Frame & Scan
Turn your issue into a focused foresight question, then scan for signals of change using the STEEP framework.3: Wednesday, November 4 — Uncertainties & Scenarios
Cluster signals into drivers, identify critical uncertainties, and build four plausible futures.4: Tuesday, December 8 — From Futures to Action
Test your strategy against each future, then backcast practical actions for the next 12 months.
