About Event

Education systems have made real progress in expanding access and improving learning. But the aspirations we place on education have grown. Young people also need opportunities to develop agency, wellbeing, purpose, dignity and the freedom to shape their own futures.

We describe this as the Thriving Gap: the distance between what education systems currently prioritise and measure, and what young people need to thrive.

Closing this gap calls for changes in what education systems value, how they learn and adapt, and how ownership of change is built and sustained.

This conversation draws on Dream a Dream’s 25+ years of experience working with children and public education systems in India.

Drawing on our evolving Theory of Change, we will introduce four interconnected pathways: Demonstration, Evidence Generation, Mindset Shift and Narrative Change; as starting points for collective inquiry rather than a fixed model.

Together, we will explore:

What enables education systems to move towards the conditions young people need to thrive and how can such change be sustained?

Everyone will be invited to reflect on these pathways, challenge the assumptions behind them, and contribute insights from their own contexts and experience.
