Understanding Shanghai: A Local Socio-Culture Chat

​Shanghai can sometimes feel distant: fast, polished, coded, and hard to enter if you did not grow up inside its rhythms.

​So we invited two Shanghai-born monkeys, Cat and Juju John, to do the slightly impossible thing: make the city feel warmer. This is not a formal city lecture. It is a casual socio-culture chat about how to navigate Shanghai through food, streets, neighborhoods, small habits, and the invisible relationship fabric behind its innovation network.

​They will talk about what is actually worth seeing, where to eat, how to read the city beyond tourist maps, and how people, projects, communities, and accidental encounters connect in this metropolis.

​After the chat, you are also welcome to join a possible city walk / local tour on another day, not on Friday itself, led by these two friends, or more accurately, these two Shanghai-born monkeys.

​上海有时候会给人一种距离感：太快、太精致、太有自己的暗语。好像如果你不是从小长在这里，就很难真正进入它的日常纹理。

​所以这次我们请来两只上海土生土长的猴子：Cat 和 Juju，试着做一件有点不可能的事：把上海讲得更近一点，更暖一点。

​这不会是一场正经城市讲座，而是一场轻松的在地社会文化聊天。我们会聊怎么在上海行动：哪些地方真的值得看，哪些东西真的值得吃，一些街区和生活习惯背后的逻辑，以及这座都市的创新网络，如何由人、项目、社群和偶然相遇慢慢织成。

​如果你刚到上海，或者一直觉得上海有点难亲近，这场聊天希望给你一个更有人味的入口。

​活动之后，也欢迎大家在另一天加入一个可能发生的 city walk / local tour，不是周五当天，由这两位朋友带路，也可以更准确地说，由这两只上海猴子带路。
