Presidio Fort Point Marina Green Fleet Week Air Show
We’re hiking through the Presidio’s wooded trails and scenic overlooks, visiting Fort Point, and following the waterfront to Marina Green for the Fleet Week Air Show! This approximately 7.3-mile, one-way hike combines rolling forest trails, Golden Gate Bridge views, and a mostly flat waterfront finish.
Route Overview
1. Meet at Mountain Lake Park Playground
Meet at the playground entrance at Lake Street and 12th Avenue at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10. We’ll walk east along Lake Street, then north and uphill on Arguello Boulevard to the Arguello Gate, aiming to arrive around 10:25 a.m.
2. Walk the full Bay Area Ridge Trail through the Presidio
Follow the approximately 2.5-mile Presidio stretch of the Bay Area Ridge Trail via National Cemetery Overlook, Rob Hill, Pacific Overlook, and Golden Gate Overlook. We’ll aim to reach the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center around 11:40 a.m.
3. Head down to the waterfront and Fort Point
Take the Presidio Promenade east and Crissy Field Avenue downhill to the Warming Hut, aiming for around 12:10 p.m. From there, follow Marine Drive to the exterior of Fort Point and return to the Warming Hut around 12:35 p.m. This out-and-back is approximately 0.8 miles.
4. Continue along Crissy Field to Marina Green
Follow the Golden Gate Promenade along Crissy Field, passing East Beach around 1:15 p.m. We’ll aim to reach Marina Green near Buchanan Street around 1:45 p.m. and watch the air show until about 2:00 p.m.

Level: Moderate/intermediate. Be comfortable walking about 7.3 miles, including hills and uneven trail surfaces.
Distance: Approximately 7.3 miles, one way.
Time: 10:00 a.m. to about 2:00 p.m., including stops. All times and distances are approximate; Fleet Week crowds may slow us down.
Finish: Marina Green near Buchanan Street. This hike does not return to Mountain Lake Park. Please plan your trip home or back to the starting point separately.
What to bring: Plenty of water, snacks and/or a packed lunch, comfortable walking shoes, a warm windproof layer, sunscreen, and earplugs for the air show.
Air Show
The official Saturday air show runs from noon to 4:00 p.m. Our group outing ends around 2:00 p.m.; anyone who wants to watch longer can stay independently. The Blue Angels’ exact Saturday performance time is not confirmed, so we may not see them before the group outing ends.
