Meeting the moment: making the case for girl-centered integrated care

​145 million girls reside in sub-Saharan Africa. More than half are out of school, married, or have children. These realities reflect  multiple, interrelated challenges, along with deepening inequalities in health, education, and safety. Addressing these complex issues requires moving beyond traditional siloed approaches and embracing coordinated, context-specific solutions to better support girls across the region—now is the moment to reimagine development through the lens of girls' lived realities. Integrated, girl-centric programming, rooted in care, community, and cross-sector collaboration, offers a transformative pathway to address the complexity of challenges girls face. This approach centers girls’ voices, choices, and leadership in solutions that span health, education, protection, mental well-being, and economic empowerment.
