For our first meetup we have invited Neha from Planted Abled to share her story.
Her company Planet Abled is a globally recognized and awarded travel brand dedicated to promoting inclusive travel for persons with disabilities and the elderly. Founded by a leader with 40 years of firsthand experience understanding accessibility needs—her father is blind and a hearing aid user, while her mother is a wheelchair user—Planet Abled designs travel experiences for disabled travelers, provides destination consulting, and builds accessibility ecosystems within the tourism industry. Its mission is to integrate accessibility and inclusion into the global Sustainable Tourism conversation while aligning with the SDGs, bridging the gap between what establishments consider accessible and what disabled travelers actually need.
Neha's organization tackles challenges such as inaccessible destinations, digital inaccessibility, lack of standardization, and affordability issues through training, consulting, and certification programs. A published business case at Ivey Publishing and Harvard Business Review, Planet Abled is taught in business schools worldwide and has received prestigious accolades, including the National Award in Tourism by the Government of India, TO DO Award Human Rights in Tourism, and Travel + Leisure Global Vision Award. Its founder, Neha, has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of 14 global leaders making travel accessible and has received honors like the Most Influential Leaders in the Tourism Industry Award and the Exceptional Women of Excellence Award. She is a regular speaker at renowned platforms such as UN Tourism, IATA, ITB Berlin, and TEDx, advocating for a more inclusive travel industry.
