Everyday Abundance: Telling Better Stories About Dynamism and Progress

​The success of political movements is based as much on their ability to organize as the force of the stories they tell. Recently, the growing success of the YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) movement in the U.S. has been due to the ability of activists to convey to neighbors, voters, and elected officials compelling narratives about how the lack of housing supply personally impacts them and their families while also painting a picture of how housing abundance could create growing, thriving communities of greater opportunity and mobility. When the forces of fear, reaction, and stasis tell stories of impending doom or disaster because of a new trend or technology - consider data centers, artificial intelligence, or even energy infrastructure - it is up to believers in dynamism and progress to respond with captivating stories human advancement, achievement, optimism, and a world of better, longer lives with more choice and freedom.
