Codex Community Build: Vienna
Get back to school with a full-day Codex Build event at TU Wien.
This is a free, hands-on day where students, researchers, and local builders learn how to build software and workflows with AI using OpenAI tools, including Codex, the OpenAI API, and ChatGPT, supported by experienced mentors.
Unlike a hackathon, there are no prizes or competition deadlines, and unlike a traditional meetup, this is not a lecture-only event. The focus is on learning and building at your own pace. You can come with your own idea, team up with others on the day, or take part in guided workshops and challenges.
OpenAI grants all participants free Codex access and API credits for the event, so you do not need a paid subscription to take part.
Tracks
During the build sessions, the event is split into two tracks so you can join the environment that fits your background:
Non-Technical Track: Designed for participants without a coding background or those new to building software. Learn how to use ChatGPT and Codex from the ground up, automate workflows, and turn ideas into small working tools through guided workshops and starter challenges.
Technical Track: Designed for developers, engineers, and technical builders. Explore practical agentic coding workflows with Codex and the OpenAI API, work on your own project or existing codebase, or tackle technical challenges with mentor support.
Who Should Join
Students, researchers, developers, founders, designers, and curious builders from all disciplines across TU Wien, EULiST partner universities, and the local community are welcome. You do not need coding experience or prior AI expertise to participate.
What to Bring
Bring your laptop and a charger. Having a project idea is helpful, but optional. We will have workshops and challenges ready in both tracks if you prefer a structured starting point.
Breakfast, lunch, coffee, and drinks will be provided.

Come to learn. Bring your laptop. Leave having built something new.
