DoW SBIR/STTR Full Day Proposal Assistance Workshop hosted by Empire Corps
The Federal government awards $5+ billion annually exclusively to small businesses in grant monies to develop technology and chart a path towards commercialization through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. These are grants, not loans, no loss of equity, and your intellectual property is fully protected. There are over 5,000 new awards every year that fund over 4,000 small businesses.
The Department of War (DoW) SBIR/STTR programs fund small businesses to develop innovative technologies with potential military and commercial applications. These competitive, phased programs support early-stage R&D, enabling small businesses to advance cutting-edge solutions that address DoW priorities while fostering economic and technological growth.
Join Empire Corps, the NYC Innovation Hot Spot, and TechOpp for a one-day DoW SBIR/STTR Workshop on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM in person in NYC and online to learn how you can tap into this resource! You will leave with a specific plan tailored to your small businesses.
DoW SBIR Workshop Topics Include:
- What does a small business need to do to identify and propose on a topic?
- How to find topics—various agencies—and make a bid/no-bid decision!
- Proposal basics—how to improve probability of win by planning and preparing a compliant and compelling proposal and how to get a transition partner/Letter of Support
The deadline to submit your application request to attend is Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 12:00 PM or earlier if we reach workshop capacity. We recommended applying in advance if you know you are able to attend on June 25, 2026.
All applicants will be emailed a decision along with next steps such as location and more on a rolling basis. Applicants will hear back within ~2 business days.
LOCATION IS ONLY DISCLOSED UPON APPROVAL. The workshop venue is near Bryant Park, NYC.
Eligibility to attend:
- Must have completed a Regional or National I-Corps program.
OR
- Must have been nominated by an Empire Corps partner.
