The Present Moment Game
When we gather with others, conversation almost automatically drifts toward what has already happened or what might happen next. Stories, plans, reactions, hopes—these patterns are so ingrained that we barely notice how completely we relate to one another through the lens of the past and future.
But when we pause those habits, something surprising occurs. The room changes. Attention sharpens. A different kind of connection begins to emerge. A small clearing inside awareness opens—a place where no future is rehearsing itself, and no echoes of the past are allowed to enter.
We can touch this space alone in contemplative practices, but it's rare to enter it with others. The Present Moment Game is a simple social meditation designed to explore that possibility. Participants speak only from what is happening in the moment, and gently bring each other back when attention drifts. What unfolds is often unexpected, and never the same twice.

IS THIS EVENT FOR YOU?
A few things to consider before you decide:
Phones and watches off — As an invitation to loosen your grip on time, you’ll be asked to remove your watch and fully power down your phone for the full duration of the experience.
This is not an Authentic Relating practice — T-Group, Circling, and other AR forms use present-moment awareness as a vehicle to explore relationality. That’s not what we’re doing here. Our subject isn’t what we think or feel about each other, but the moment itself.
Kindness is essential — Please come willing to encounter everyone in the room with openness and warmth. This is a gentle space for contemplation and focused attention, not edge-pushing or confrontation.
