Meetup 03 - At the Edge of the World
We’re living through a turning point — new technologies like AI are transforming not just work and creativity, but how we see ourselves and live with each other.
Join us for the second meetup at the Edge of the World — a gathering for makers, activists, researchers, thinkers, builders, and curious others.
This third meetup will feature the following discussion:
Giving Nature a Seat at the Table: AI Representatives for Non-Human Species which introduces a concept for AI-mediated “species representatives” that can participate in policy and strategy discussions, translating ecological data into the interests of specific animals or plants when governments, firms, and communities make decisions affecting ecosystems.
The discussion explores how such systems could be used in citizens’ assemblies, regulatory consultations, and corporate planning—ensuring that species such as koalas, pollinators, forests, or river systems are treated as stakeholders rather than externalities.
These meetups aim to build a community concerned and interested about the impacts and potential of emerging technologies such as AI. Between the meetups, we hope that participants will host activities, such as increasing awareness of AI, teach/share knowledge about alternatives, reimagine positive emerging tech possibilities, and plot ways to resist big tech.
At the Edge of World is not ideologically or politically aligned; we welcome people who are prepared to engage with one another with respect and curiosity.
