Pigeon Circle: Eldest Daughter Core (The Burden of Being "The Good Daughter")
A women-only journalling and listening circle for the eldest daughters among us.
You don't actually have to be an eldest daughter to recognise this feeling. It's about becoming "the good daughter." The responsible one. The dependable one. The one everyone counts on. Especially in many Asian households, these roles often become so normal that we stop questioning them.
We learn to anticipate other people's needs before our own. To keep the peace. To be grateful. To not be a burden. And somewhere along the way, caring for everyone else quietly becomes part of who we are.
This evening is an invitation to gently unpack what we've been carrying. Together, we'll reflect on prompts like:
How has trying to be a "good daughter" shaped the woman you've become today?
What expectation do you constantly place on yourself, even though nobody has explicitly asked you to
When did being "the good daughter" stop feeling good?
What would taking care of yourself look like this season?
Through guided journalling, thoughtful prompts, and small group conversations, we'll create space for women who spend so much of their lives creating space for everyone else.
🌴 🕊️ This is a co-created space: Pigeon Circle works because everyone contributes to the experience, not just the host. Coming prepared helps everyone feel comfortable and allows us to start on time together.
A picnic/yoga mat (Compulsory)
Your favourite journal & writing materials (Compulsory)
Water / Hydration
Insect Repellent (Optional)
Feel free to bring dinner or some snacks for yourself
📍 The exact beach location will be shared with confirmed guests.
💐 Before you join us
Because this is a small listening circle rather than a drop-in event, we'd love your help in caring for the space.
Please arrive on time. We'll begin together as a group, and late arrivals can be disruptive to everyone's experience. If you're more than 30 minutes late, we'll unfortunately consider your registration forfeited.
Come with an open mind. You don't have to share everything, but we do ask everyone to be present, respectful, and engaged.
Say hello. Many people come alone, and a simple introduction or smile goes a long way in helping everyone feel welcome! We all play a part in creating the kind of community we'd like to belong to.
🌙 A last note
Pigeon Circle is a listening and journalling circle, not a therapy, counselling or support group. We simply believe there's something powerful about slowing down, reflecting honestly, and listening to other women with care.
By attending, you acknowledge that you're participating voluntarily and are responsible for your own health and wellbeing throughout the session.
Photos and videos may be taken for Screaming Pigeons' social media and community channels. If you'd prefer not to appear, simply let your host know before we begin and we'll happily accommodate.
