Giving Wednesday - "The Camaraderie of Mediocrity"
Mediocrity rarely begins with a lack of ability.
It begins with compromise.
Not the kind that builds relationships, but the kind that quietly lowers standards.
One missed deadline becomes acceptable.
One difficult conversation is avoided.
One underperformance is excused.
Then another.
And before long, average becomes the norm, not because people lack potential, but because a group has unknowingly agreed that "good enough" is good enough.
That's what fascinates me about mediocrity.
It is rarely an individual choice. It is often a collective one.
It spreads through cultures, teams, families, communities and even friendships, until no one notices it anymore.
Perhaps the greatest danger of mediocrity is not that it exists.
It's that it eventually feels normal.
This is the conversation we'll be having in the first session of Giving Wednesdays.
Not to judge people.
Not to preach excellence.
But to explore how ordinary people, with extraordinary potential, sometimes settle for less than they are capable of and what it takes to reverse that.
