Speakeasy Salsa: Descarga on Fifth
Speakeasy Salsa returns to Loft on Fifth for a live-band edition in the heart of Flatiron.
Named one of Time Out New York's best things to do in NYC this week — #3 on the list. "Salsa, live music and a little old-school chic… a dressed-up atmosphere that feels considerably more glamorous than your average night out."
The evening begins on the rooftop with the Flatiron Building in front of you — and this edition comes with an open bar, included with your ticket. Then inside, into the Art Deco loft, for a beginner-friendly New York–style salsa (On2) class — taught to live music, with the Maria Raquel Trio playing behind it. Most people learn this dance to a playlist. You'll learn it to a band.
The trio then plays two live 40-minute sets — a descarga, the old-school salsa jam the night is named for. A DJ keeps the floor moving before and between them, so it never cools off.
This is the premium side of MAMBROSO: intimate, dressed up, and capped at 100 guests so there's room to dance, connect, and hear the music the way it's meant to be heard.
