Virtual Campfire with Changemakers: Women Who Travel
"Is it safe?" "Who are you going with?" "Aren't you scared?"
Every woman who has packed a bag on her own has heard these questions. Far fewer of us get asked the better one: what did the world teach you?
Join us for Virtual Campfire with Changemakers, our online gathering where we come together beyond borders to spark meaningful conversations, share stories, and hold space for one another. Host Carmen Chan, Founder of Girls Be Change, brings together a small circle of women from around the world to have the conversations we don't always get to have — up close, personal, and honest.
This time, we're talking about "Women Who Travel" — and how more of us can explore the world with confidence.
Your hosts have each made the world part of how they live and work. Carmen has been travelling solo around the world since late 2022 and founded Girls Be Change along the journey to empower women to be explorers and changemakers. Sandy has spent more than a decade building a life, a career - her own companies and brands including Webeings and I Am Sustainable Studio - far from home. Milla backpacked her way back to herself after burnout, then built a business, Beyond Dharma, designing retreats across Europe and Asia.
Together, they'll share what they wish someone had told them before they left: the practical tips and travel hacks for women, the moments that tested them, and how the road changed the way they live and work.
Confidence on the road isn't something you're born with. It's built — one trip, one story, one shared tip at a time. Bring your questions, your doubts, or your own stories from the road. No experience is too small, no destination too ordinary.
This is not a panel. Not a webinar. Not a lecture. It's a circle. Come as you are. Leave ready to explore the world with confidence.
In order to curate a more engaging experience, we limit each Virtual Campfire session to 10 participants only. This session will be recorded.
Meet Your Campfire Host
Carmen Chan | Founder, Girls Be Change
Carmen is a people-driven entrepreneur who has founded three ventures and was featured in Facebook's #SheMeansBusiness campaign in 2016. Since late 2022, she has travelled solo across five continents — Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa — seeking out women changemakers and the social businesses transforming their communities.
Along the journey, she founded Girls Be Change, a global social business that empowers girls and women to become explorers and changemakers. It has brought together a community of 400+ women changemakers from around the world, working with 40+ organizations including the United Nations Association, Impact Hub, Ashoka, WWF, and Earth Company. In 2025, Carmen led women on an impact expedition into the Peruvian Amazon and launched women's changemaking retreats in Northern Thailand, which she continues to host. Through it all, she creates spaces for women to step out into the world with purpose and confidence.
