Method Call Building Democratic Resilience
Building Democratic Resilience through Public Deliberation is an online method call and facilitated dialogue bringing together people with experience in political institutions, public policy, civil society, research, media, international cooperation and citizen engagement.
The session will explore how democratic resilience is understood in different national and institutional contexts; whether existing forms of citizen participation contribute to it; and the conditions under which public deliberation and deliberative mini-publics might help to strengthen decision-making, inclusion, public trust and institutional accountability.
The event does not assume that a single democratic model or institutional design is appropriate for every country. Instead, it seeks to create a respectful space in which participants can share locally grounded perspectives, identify common challenges and important differences, and reflect critically on both the opportunities and limitations of deliberative approaches.
