About the Munich FinTech MeetUp Series
The Munich FinTech MeetUp Series is a recurring after-work event designed to bring together the people shaping the future of finance in Munich.
The format is intentionally simple and accessible: an early-stage initiative aimed at fostering exchange within the local ecosystem. Expectations are modest by design. The focus is on building a consistent space for meaningful conversations over time.
The series is hosted by the non-profit Financial Health Initiative e.V., which works to strengthen collaboration between finance, technology, and research to support innovation that contributes to long-term financial resilience and well-being.
Second Edition
The second edition of the Munich FinTech MeetUp will take place on Thursday, July 30, hosted at the Munich office of QPLIX in their newly created event space.
QPLIX is a Munich-based WealthTech company providing software solutions for wealth management, portfolio management, reporting, accounting, analytics, and related workflows. We are very grateful to the QPLIX team for opening their space to the Munich fintech community and supporting this growing initiative.
Who should join?

3 extended pitches or impulse talks, 10 minutes each
5 minutes Q&A per session
Followed by informal networking
The main focus is on curated, informal exchange with founders, builders, investors, researchers, and other ecosystem players.
Speakers
This edition will feature three speakers from the Munich fintech and adjacent innovation ecosystem, sharing practical insights into wealth technology, private markets investing, and decentralized finance.
Philip Schäfer – Director Client Solutions at QPLIX
Philip is an engineer by background and today drives product and client engagement at QPLIX. He will give an insider’s view into the world of private wealth management: who the key players are, what they actually need, and how QPLIX has built a platform to serve them.
His talk will cover the full value chain from data and accounting to portfolio management, reporting, analytics, and end-user-facing applications, serving clients such as banks, asset managers, and family offices.
Dr. Max Knicker – Co-Founder of QFT
With a background in physics, AI, and quantitative finance, Max is building QFT to bring scientific decision-making to private markets investing.
He will outline his vision for the future of private equity investing, where advances in AI and data science fundamentally reshape how institutional investors source, evaluate, and select fund managers.
Marcel Ohngemach – Product, DeFi at Kraken
Marcel leads Kraken’s DeFi product suite, building trusted, cost-effective, and seamless solutions for decentralized lending and borrowing. He previously led Institutional Staking at Coinbase, where he brought some of the world’s largest financial institutions on-chain. Marcel began his career as a management consultant at BCG.
He will discuss how decentralized lending and borrowing protocols are revolutionizing capital efficiency. He will examine the structural advantages that make DeFi markets inherently superior to traditional finance, while sharing his perspective on how to abstract away their complexity and make them available to everyone.
Location
Events are hosted at rotating venues across Munich and surrounding areas, including fintech offices, innovation hubs, and community spaces that reflect the diversity of the local ecosystem.
This edition will take place at the office of QPLIX in Munich, in their newly created event space.
