2026 Democracy Experiments: What Are We Learning?

Democracy needs more than defending. It also needs experimenting.
Around the world—and right here in the Bay Area—people are testing different ways for people to participate, deliberate, make decisions, organize, and turn their ideas into action.
Ahead of SF Democracy Week, we're bringing together people working on and interested in some of these local and global experiments for an informal online conversation.
We'll share experiments already underway, like The Democracy Wall, which we've tested at Bay Area protests as a simple way for people to answer, “What world do you want to create?” and connect with local democracy projects.
And we want to hear what you are trying, building, or thinking about.
We'll also share what's coming during SF Democracy Week, October 5–11, including the SF Innovators & Investors for Democracy Forum on October 8, and opportunities to participate.
One immediate experiment needs people: we're looking for volunteers to help us bring the Democracy Wall to the Oct. 8 Forum.
This isn't a conference or a presentation. It's a working conversation about what we're learning—and what might be worth trying next.
