About Event

This program is part of BioBuzz's Career Catalyst series, a weekly virtual program designed for students, recent grads, and early-career professionals navigating the life sciences industry. Our sessions are intentionally built to foster direct, high-quality access to the industry leaders shaping it.

Overview

Transitioning out of the military can make it feel like you are entering an entirely new world. But many of the skills life sciences employers need are skills veterans have already spent years building.

Leading teams. Following complex procedures. Working in high-stakes environments. Troubleshooting problems. Managing equipment and logistics. Protecting sensitive information. Making decisions when accuracy matters.

The challenge is often not whether those skills are valuable. It is knowing how to translate them into civilian language and where to look for opportunities that match them.

In honor of Veterans Day, this session will bring together veterans, career-transition programs, and organizations working at the intersection of military service, medicine, and life sciences.

We’ll continue to explore career paths across areas like biomanufacturing, quality, operations, engineering, supply chain, cybersecurity, and clinical research, while sharing practical resources that can help veterans build the skills, connections, and confidence needed to make the transition.

We’ll also highlight organizations supporting the different ways military experience can connect to careers, training, research, and ultimately better health outcomes.

Your military career may be ending, but the skills you built there are not.

Key Takeaways

  1. Learn how military experience translates into life sciences, including skills in leadership, operations, technical work, quality, logistics, and problem-solving.

  2. Explore career paths where veteran experience can be especially valuable, including manufacturing, quality, engineering, supply chain, cybersecurity, clinical research, and more.

  3. Learn how to translate military experience into civilian language for resumes, interviews, LinkedIn profiles, and networking conversations.

  4. Discover programs and organizations that support veterans entering life sciences, including training, mentorship, networking, and career-transition resources.

  5. See how military service and life sciences connect beyond the career transition, including work that advances military medicine and improves care for service members, families, and civilians.
