​Political changes over the last few years have left many within the EA community feeling that democracy is becoming more fragile. Democracy is instrumentally important for many other things EAs care about - could defending democracy then be the next important cause area?
Tristan will present a summary of some ideas shared on the EA forum, and in Jason Brennan's book "Against Democracy", before opening up for a general discussion. No need to prepare anything, but if you're interested you can also read/watch this material here (in order of relevance):
