Just Friends Dinner by Ruth Lee, Irvan Torbett & Ana Lian
Just Dinner is Studio Bumi's communal dining series, rooted in commensality: the simple, universal practice of eating together at one table. Each dinner follows a guided, repeatable format built around shared plates, thoughtful pacing, and intentional moments of connection.
This edition celebrates the heritages of three friends (who met because of Studio Bumi) and the summer season in a family-style format.
💧Our dinner is BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage). So feel free to, well, bring what you like to drink!
🌾 Have allergies? Review our allergen list here before booking. We don't accommodate substitutions, but the list will help you make an informed call. Full detail further down.
About Your Hosts
Ruth Lee
Hey, I’m Ruth! As a creative who grew up between cultures and many cities across the US, the driving throughline of my life is my love for design and food. These two disciplines form a sort of yin and yang to my life, as my 9-5 and 5-9—I think and process as a designer, but I find my creative voice through the medium of food and as a chef. Turning this intersection into a tool to connect and empower others is my life’s work, and this dinner is just the first of many opportunities I hope to have to become the person I’ve always wanted to be.
Irvan Torbett
Hi, I’m Irvan. Community has always been at the center of how I experience the world. Moving throughout my life taught me how to create it wherever I went, and in the process I found that food is one of the most meaningful ways to understand the people around you. This dinner is a reflection of the traditions, techniques, and stories I’ve been fortunate enough to learn along the way.
Ana Lian
Growing up as a Chinese immigrant in Brazil, I was raised at the crossroads of two worlds: the flavors of a Chinese kitchen and the warmth of Brazilian cooking. That collision shaped how they cook today. But my work reaches beyond the plate, building community events centered on food, music, and art — drawn to whatever brings people together in the same room. Food just happens to a powerful medium for that.

Cancellations & Refunds
We’re a small team and each dinner is thoughtfully planned based on the number of guests.
For this reason, all sales are final and we do not offer cancellations or refunds. If something comes up, you're welcome to either transfer your ticket to a friend or move it to a future dinner date (subject to availabilities), no later than 72 hours before the event—we’re happy to help coordinate either option.
If Just Dinner is canceled or rescheduled by us, guests will receive a full refund or a transfer option.
For transfers, email dining@studiobumi.space with the new attendee’s details.
Dietary Restrictions & Allergies
Our menu is thoughtfully curated, and we do not accommodate substitutions. However, we provide a detailed allergen list for each dish to help you make informed choices.
Since we prepare everything in a shared kitchen, we cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contact with allergens. If you have a severe allergy, please let us know, and we will do our best to work something out.
To help us better understand any dietary concerns, please complete the dietary form during checkout.
