Forming the Facilitator: The Art of Accompanying Communal Discernment

​What makes a good facilitator of communal discernment? And how does someone form themselves for that ministry?

​This webinar brings together two questions that belong side by side: the profile and skills good facilitation calls for, and the formative itinerary for growing into them.

​With Fr Francisco José SJ, we'll explore the underlying intuition of facilitating as one who "gives the Exercises" — knowing when to wait and when to point the way — and we'll walk through four traits that shape the facilitator: a sense of process that respects the group's kairós, a sense of community that recovers the "we," a capacity for spiritual communication that lets the Spirit be the "third" in the conversation, and a sense of meaning that helps the group tell its own story and open a future.

​Each trait grounded in concrete cases. And because these qualities aren't improvised but cultivated, we'll present the formative itinerary where theory emerges from practice.

​An invitation, in the end, to rediscover that facilitating is a ministry of humility: the Spirit is always the protagonist.
