About Event

Spring is almost here, which means more sunlight, more energy, and fewer excuses to stay inside!

Join us on March 26th for a meetup hosted by Hitachi Energy, where we will discuss how various roles not only coexist in one environment, but also positively influence each other's work.

Faustyna and Dorota will explore how Technical Writers and Instructional Designers bring different yet complementary value to IT organizations, and how their collaboration helps build clear, user-focused knowledge ecosystems.

Edyta and Barbara will stay in the topic of collaboration, discussing the (end)points of contact between API documentation and implementation.

✍️ TOPICS

Crafting Clarity. The Roles of Technical Writers and Instructional Designers in IT

Crafting Clarity explores how Technical Writers and Instructional Designers contribute distinct yet complementary values in IT organizations.

While Technical Writers focus on helping users do tasks correctly through clear, accurate documentation, Instructional Designers focus on helping users learn and build lasting competence through structured training.

The presentation shows where the roles differ, where they overlap, and how working together helps create a clear, user-focused knowledge ecosystem.

Who, what, and when in API development

While API is the key to successful integrations, even the most elegant code loses its clarity when documentation relies on vague parameters, cryptic error codes, or content-lacking developer guides. In other words, it’s one thing to build a robust API; it’s another to properly describe its potential. Often seen as a developer domain, API development is actually a collaborative effort.

In our presentation, we’ll use real-life examples to discuss the (end)points of contact between documentation and implementation, showing how documentation enhancements can improve the quality of APIs.

📣SPEAKERS

Dorota Takahashi is a Senior Instructional Designer at Hitachi Energy. She creates technical training materials, mainly for software products. She likes turning complex topics into clear, easy-to-use content.

Faustyna Żak is a Senior Instructional Designer at Hitachi Energy. With a background in Visual Communication, she uses design and visual thinking to make training materials clearer and more engaging.

After a couple of years of translating boiler construction diagrams and other similarly fascinating texts, Edyta Rakowska switched to creating software documentation and never looked back. Currently, she works as a senior technical writer at Apify. After hours, Edyta is also a co-organizer of the Content Bytes meetups and the upcoming CAKE conf.

Barbara Czyż works as a technical writer at Google, where she creates documentation that helps developers navigate the Google Cloud Platform. She enjoys testing solutions, interacting with engineers, and solving problems. Co-founding Content Bytes gave her the chance to help the content community thrive in Kraków and beyond.
