About Event

AI holds great promise for parties to arbitrations, and for the arbitration process.  This conversation will explore some of the ways in which AI can make arbitration more efficient and more effective – faster, less expensive, and less prone to error.  But how far can we pursue the lure of AI without compromising the essence of arbitration – without, as Elon Musk once put it, “summoning the demon”?  As fairy tales remind us, if certain lines are crossed then there will be a price to be paid.

This conversation will examine where those lines lie when it comes to using AI in arbitration, and the significant consequences that can follow if those lines are crossed – including reputational harm for lawyers, arbitrators, and arbitral institutions; costs consequences for parties; and challenges to the enforceability of awards.

Join us afterwards for drinks and light bites – and, we hope, a lively exchange on whether AI is arbitration’s gold-spinning ally, its demon adversary, or perhaps both.
