About Event

Space is no longer the preserve of governments, defence agencies and a handful of major aerospace companies. Falling launch costs, advances in satellite technology and growing private investment are opening new possibilities, but separating durable businesses from ambitious speculation remains difficult.

For this London Venture Club session, we will bring together a curated group of entrepreneurs, investors, operators and industry experts for an off the record discussion on where commercial opportunities in space are genuinely emerging, what is driving them, and which challenges remain unresolved.

This will not be a technical lecture or a celebration of distant possibilities. The conversation will focus on commercial judgement: where real demand exists today, which business models are becoming viable, and where expectations may be running ahead of reality.

The discussion will explore:

  • How lower launch costs and smaller satellites are changing the economics of space

  • Where value is being created across communications, Earth observation, navigation, data and infrastructure

  • The growing importance of defence, security and sovereign capability

  • Opportunities in launch services, operations in orbit, manufacturing and space logistics

  • How industries on Earth are beginning to use data and services from space

  • The role of regulation, insurance and international competition in shaping the market

  • Where the UK has genuine strengths, and where commercial gaps remain

  • How investors should assess long timelines, capital intensity and technical risk

  • Where the less visible “picks and shovels” opportunities may emerge

The aim is to leave the room with a clearer view of the space economy: which developments matter, where credible businesses can be built, and what entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders should be watching over the coming decade.

As always, the session will be candid, practical and off the record. No pitches, no posturing and no unnecessary slide decks, just thoughtful people examining an ambitious and increasingly consequential market with experts who understand both its possibilities and its constraints.
