Beginnings in Boston
What does it take to start from scratch in a new city — build a network, find your footing, and turn a beginning into opportunity?
Join us for Beginnings in Boston, an informal Slovak PRO networking evening focused on personal stories of building life and career in Greater Boston. Come connect, exchange experiences, and enjoy good conversation over a drink and a bite.
We’re excited to welcome two special guests sharing their Boston beginnings:
Ivan Stano is the CEO of Resco, a Slovak-founded global software company. Based in Boston, he leads the company’s international growth while staying closely connected to its roots in Slovakia. A proud husband and father, he’s building both a global business and a life across borders.
Jakub Dovčík is an MPA candidate at Harvard Kennedy School and a public policy professional focused on economic development and education reform. In Boston, he works as a researcher and teaching assistant at Harvard. Previously, he was a Policy Analyst at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, working on government reform and innovation in the age of AI. He was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Slovakia for his work in public innovation.
This is a relaxed, informal gathering — come for the stories, stay for the connections. Guests purchase their own food and drinks. An optional $10 contribution to support Slovak PRO activities is suggested during registration.
All Slovak professionals and friends of Slovakia are welcome. The main program will be in English. Whether you’re new to Boston or reflecting on your own beginnings, we’d love to see you there!
