The Resistance Party: a space to explore the things we've been avoiding
I don't know about you, but my mind is excellent at convincing me to ignore the things that are important to me but I'm scared to do.
But of course, we all know that the gold (or peace, energy, joy) is on the other side of the fear.
What I've found, though, is exploring our resistance together dispels some of the chafrge around it. That's exactly what this is for.
But first - what kind of resistance are we talking about? It could be a new project or task, a decision you've been putting off, a difficult conversation, anything that feels like a "nag" but you can't seem to get yourself to do it.
What we'll do:
An opening meditation to ground ourselves in calm, acceptance that we'll carry through the exercise.
We will then spend some time in silence writing out the things we feel like we're resisting.
We may choose to share (or not! - no pressure) what came up and together we'll explore how to sit with our resistance and explore it with curiosity - why it's there, what it's protecting us from, and what it needs.
We'll end with an hour (or more depending on schedules) actual doing. The starting friction is always the hardest to get over, so we'll do it together in a shared supportive space.
If it's not "work" you're resisting, this hour can just be spent contemplating what you need to do, sitting with emotions that come up, rehearsing a conversation - whatever you need.
PS. I'm a somatic IFS (internal family systems) coach so there will be elements of somatic and parts work but no prior knowledge of it is necessary. This session is entirely experiential.
No sharing is required - this is a personal journey. But if you're comfortable, turning your video on during the introduction helps warm the room for everyone.
