About Event

Dear GWers,

Ever wish you could escape the horrifying dystopia of the mid-2020s and re-immerse yourself in the footloose and fancy-free 9/11 era?

HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU!

Dust off your jerseys and re-frost your tips; we're gettin' jiggy with it one more time at a Golden Words Reunion Weekend(ish) in Kingston next summer!

Mark your calendars for July 2 - 4, 2026!

Whether you live in Victoria or Osaka, San Francisco or Kamchatka, get thee back to Kingston, Ontario for an unforgettable reunion event drenched in beer and Y2K nostalgia!

We'll laugh! We'll cry! We'll dance! We'll feel embarrassed by what we genuinely thought was funny before our frontal lobes had fully developed!

We'll live! We'll die! We'll live again!

Please forward this invitation to anyone you know who was involved with Golden Words (just not Greg) from roughly 1996 - 2006. All are welcome! (Except Greg.)

Here's a taste of what's to come (seriously, do NOT invite Greg):

Reunion Schedule

Thursday, July 2
Warm-up Pub Night
Location: TBD

For those of you able to leverage national holidays to make it to Kingston early, we'll be gathering for an informal pub night at a beloved Kingston watering hole. Think of how relaxing it will be to enjoy a pint in a downtown Kingston pub without the fear of running into your annoying TA or that guy/gal who felt you up at Beachslam! (Unless that guy was Dan Aykroyd...he might actually make an appearance...sorry.) Wear your jerseys if you've got 'em!

Friday, July 3
Family Friendly Patio Lunch
Location: Lone Star Texas Grill

Bring ya spouse! Bring ya kids! Mentally prepare yourself to call a grown-ass man or woman "Coyote" or "Agave"! We'll be taking over a group of tables on Lone Star's massive back patio, Margaritaville. Don't forget your wallet--we all know their "complimentary chips and salsa" now cost $45 with tariffs.

Friday, July 3
GW Talent Show and Dance Party
Location: Clark Hall Pub*

Miss that Clark Hall Pub* smell? Let it tickle your nasal passages once again! Be sure to bust out your GNO/BNO finery for the main event. We'll have era-appropriate music scientifically proven to make you want to dance (yes, we take requests), dramatic readings of classic GW articles, karaoke, non-shitty prizes, tasty snax, and loads of laughs. Your charming host for the evening will be Ryan Aldred (AKA Wonko the Sane).

Bonus: we are working on arranging for the EngSoc lounge to be open for a quick nostalgia tour so we can all fondly remember that Press Nite we tenderly made out with Greg in the GW office. (Just kidding! Nobody ever made out with Greg.)

Saturday, July 4
Optional: Hangover Breakfast/Kingston Public Market
Location: Morrison's/Springer Market Square

You can't drink like you used to, friends. You need the kind of stomach-coating grease that only Morrison's can provide. And since we're all in our forties and fifties now, who doesn't love a Farmer's Market? The Kingston Public Market will be running all day just across the street from Morrison's. Be sure to pick up some $12 organic strawberry rhubarb jam and feel like you're making the world a better place by buying local, you capitalist cog!

AND SPEAKING OF CAPITALISM: tickets for the GW Reunion Weekend-ish are $135 CAD (but a mere $99 CAD for the first twenty ticket buyers using the code EARLYBIRD99, holy smokes!) and can be purchased right here.

Come one! Come all! (Just not Greg. If any of you jerks invite Greg, I swear to god...)

Don't be a No Show Fuckee! Buy your tickets today!

(Not you, Greg.)

Love,

The GW Reunion Weekend-ish Organizing Committee

PLEASE NOTE: These are all mask-friendly events (sip valves exist). Partners/spouses are welcome at the Clark Hall/GW Talent Show night but must purchase an additional ticket.

Please drink responsibly

*Clark Hall Pub rental not guaranteed due to the student staff changeover in March, but it should work out and if not, we will find a fittingly dank bar for the festivities.*
