RSVP here so we can get a headcount for the meet-and-greet!
Elim Chan '09 is coming to San Francisco Symphony. For those of use lucky enough to catch her at the LA Philharmonic earlier this month, we can tell you, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. Elim will be conducting a program that opens with the youthful vigor of Mendelssohn’s Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream and closes with Debussy’s sparkling seascape La Mer. In between, experience the elegant passion of Berlioz’s song cycle Les Nuits d’été, sung by Sasha Cooke, and Wagner’s surging Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde.
Purchase your tickets for Saturday, June 6 a.s.a.p. at https://seats.sfsymphony.org/single/23813. We aren't able to procure a block of seats, so please get your own. Currently General Admisssion tickets are available in the tier behind the orchestra where we can see Elim do her thing face to face!
You may have seen the news! Elim has assumed the role of Music Director Designate of the San Francisco Symphony, a position she will begin in September 2027. She will be the first woman to lead the San Francisco Symphony in its 115-year history. She is also the first woman to be hired as music director by one of the so-called “Big 7” symphony orchestras in the United States, encompassing New York, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Philadelphia.
MEET ELIM! We were told there was no way to meet with Elim after our event, but things have changed!
---- PLEASE RSVP to this Luma invitation so we can get a headcount. ---
After the concert on Saturday, we will have a very quick meet-and-greet with Elim! She has another event that night, but has graciously agreed to do a quick moment with us! After the concert, make your way down to the Orchestra Level Lobby, near the Lobby Bar, where Amy Gardner '92 and current president of the Peninsula Club will be waiting to meet you; from there we will make our way to the Artists' Green Room for our meet-and-greet.
